Our November speaker, Rosemary Raughter; author, researcher and historian of all things Irish; will talk to us about Irish women in philanthropy in a presentation titled “Wild, ideal, romantic and absurd: Lady Arabella Denny and the establishment of the Leeson Street Asylum.”

We will be having a food and necessary items drive for the homeless and in-need of Dublin. (List of needed items appears  in the eNotes!)

Past AWCD President Eileen Green-Doyle will have adorable aprons and baked goods for sale to benefit ARC, this year’s sponsored charity, and don’t forget our FAWCO Rep, Margie O’Rourke, will be shaking her coin-collecting flower pot to gather your change to make a change via the Awesome Blossoms foundation!

We will also be preparing to participate in the annual International Charity Bazaar on November 19th at the RDS, in partnership with the Embassy of the US. We will have both admission and raffle tickets for the Bazaar available to purchase. Heard there are some AMAZING things on offer for the raffle! Debbie Lennertz and her crafty crew will be making some holiday ornaments to sell at the event, and a number of our members have signed up to make baked goods to sell there, as well. Have you signed up? You can do so at the meeting.

Now, about that meeting on November 9…

TAKE NOTE! We will be meeting at The Harcourt Hotel, 60 Harcourt Street, Dublin 2. We have two rooms all to ourselves, with the main room offering a lovely view of their enclosed garden patio! The ante-room offers lots of space to welcome us, and for our Membership, Activities, FAWCO and Philanthropy ladies to spread out their information and wares. Even our Treasurer will have a space to call home!

There will be TABLES and CHAIRS galore to make coffees/teas and goodies easy to enjoy while you visit with friends old and new! Very few stairs to negotiate – AND lifts to the facilities! Yahoo!

The staff is sooo friendly and ready to cater to our every need, and lunch can be had by simply walking through the doorway into the Harcourt Bar or the lovely 1900 Restaurant. Check out the menu here.

Don’t forget, there will be door prizes, items for sale to benefit our charity, and a basket of American and other goods as a raffle prize.

So, what are you waiting for? Register NOW on Wild Apricot, or call one of our helpful Board members or volunteers to assist. We can’t wait to see you there!!!

(Bring a friend! Non-members are welcome to attend up to two AWCD events before being asked to join the club.  Any fees paid will be taken from the cost of membership).
