Hello AWCD Hillwalkers!

Hike: Ardgillan Castle and Demesne

Meeting place: Ardgillan Castle Car Park- Turn right at the roundabout after you go through the entrance and park on the far-right side with the water view
Hike time: 10:10
Level: Easy
Duration/Ascent/Distance/Description: This is considered an easy walk on a mostly flat paved trail. It is quite hilly on the way back to the car park, so be prepared for a bit of a climb. It is a looped walk with beautiful views of the castle and the ocean.
It looks like the tide will be in around the time we walk, but we can still walk to the waters edge. It’s 4.7km. For the more fit among us they can walk it twice around.
There is a walled garden to explore and we can walk down the hill for tea and cake after the walk. We will have to walk back up the hill, which will walk off a few of those calories!
Please bring: 1 liter water, lunch, snack, rain gear, hat and gloves, walking sticks if you have them
Please note that walkers should be aware that they are responsible for their own safety and that they are NOT covered by the AWCD for Personal Accident Insurance. To hike with the Hillwalking group you must be a member of Mountaineering Ireland; this provides us with insurance cover. You are allowed to join AWCD for two hillwalks; if you wish to continue to walk with us you must join Mountaineering Ireland.
