DUE TO THE INCLEMENT WEATHER, OUR ORIGINAL SPEAKER CANNOT MAKE IT THIS MORNING.  WE'RE PLEASED TO INSTEAD HAVE AN EXPERT GENEALOGIST FROM THE FAMILY HISTORY CENTRE GUIDE US THROUGH HOW TO RESEARCH FAMILY HISTORY.

Whether you’re just a little curious or a fully-fledged family historian, an expert genealogist from the Irish Family History Centre at EPIC (The Irish Emigration Museum) can help you unearth your roots.

The expert genealogist knows the background of all relevant online databases and repositories for offline research and can significantly speed up your search. They can identify further record sources to be reviewed, create a route map and develop a search strategy.  They will give you lots of tips and tricks to make your search easier and their knowledge will help you uncover your family history.

What if I don’t even know if I’m Irish?

Don’t worry! They’ve got access to records across the globe through their databases – so even if you don’t know where you come from you can start digging. They’ve had visitors find ancestors in Nicaragua, Montserrat and India, so you never know what you might discover – it’s pretty exciting stuff!

We will be meeting in the Annie Moore Room on the ground floor of the Custom House Quay (CHQ) Building.
