Please join AWCD for a walk in the beautiful Killinthomas Wood, a forest area located in Kildare, approximately 1 hour from Dublin. We chose this particular location as the bluebells should be in bloom, and it is quite a beautiful sight to be seen!

With some parts of the forest covered in bluebells, other parts are blanketed in white garlic. You can imagine that Killinthomas Wood is an area which will spark all your senses- with the visual display of the bright flowers, the strong garlic aroma, and the lovely birdsong heard throughout.

The route we will take is about 7 KM long and should take around 1.5 - 2 hours to complete (with plenty of time for photographs of the floral displays).  Please bring a lunch; we will take a break for a trailside lunch.

Description:  Looped flat walk through Killinthomas Wood. This is a lowland walk through a native forest, we are not climbing any mountains or hills on this walk. (Note: There are no toilets on site)

Meeting place:  Killinthomas Wood entrance at 2 Woodlands, Killyguire, Rathangan, Co. Kildare  (we will be arranging carpools from the greater Dublin area)

Hike start time: 10:00 am

Hike time:  1.5 - 2 hours

Please bring:  1 liter water, lunch and snack, rain gear, hat. Hiking boots or sturdy sneakers recommended

We will be setting up carpools to get to the wood entrance; Please let me know if you can drive, and the nearest DART/LUAS station at which you can collect people.  Carpool riders will be asked to pay 10 euro to their driver to help defray the cost of petrol.

I will set up a WhatsApp group for this hike.
