Hillwalk - Crone Wood and Maulin Mountain Loop

Join AWCD Hillwalkers on the first and third Thursdays of each month as we walk the trails of the beautiful Dublin and Wicklow Mountains, and other walking destinations in the Dublin environs.

This week - Crone Wood and Maulin Mountain Loop.

Length - 4.8 miles/7.7 km

Duration - 3 hrs

Difficulty - moderately challenging

Dogs are welcome, but must be on a leash.  

Once you get up out of the forest you will see great views over Glencree, down to the Sugar Loaf and as far up the coast as the Mourne mountains and just about make out Wales on a clear day! Views of Powerscourt waterfall are spectacular! A nice autumn walk as there is some deciduous forest.

• To hike with the group, you must be a member of Mountaineering Ireland which provides insurance coverage. The coordinator will assist you with membership if you decide to hike with the group. Cost of coverage is 35 Euro per year. You may join in on two hikes before deciding to become a member of Mountaineering Ireland.
• Hikes usually last 2.5 - 4 hours and range in difficulty from medium to difficult. 
• Check the Hillwalking option on your profile in order to receive emails with information about the location, level of difficulty, length of walk and any other pertinent information about each hike since they vary each week.
• Proper hiking boots and wet weather gear are essential for this activity. 
• Carpooling can usually be arranged for those who need it.  
• The group typically either brings a packed lunch to eat during the hike or goes to lunch together at the conclusion of the hike.
