Kilmashogue Forest Carpark – Fairy Castle – Wicklow Way – Kilmashogue Forest Carpark

Length: 11 km, 4 hours
Please join AWCD for our first hillwalk of the 2022-2023 season! We will be walking from Kilmashogue Forest carpark, through Ticknock Forest to Fairy Castle with its bronze age cairn, then back along the Wicklow Way to Kilmashogue.
Please bring a packed lunch and a liter of water, preferably not in a disposable bottle. The track can be rough; please wear boots with good tread. Wear synthetic clothing (not cotton) and rain gear (we are in Ireland, after all!)
I have been asked by the AWCD to point out that walkers should be aware that they are responsible for their own safety and that they are NOT covered by the AWCD for Personal Accident Insurance. To hike with the Hillwalking group you must be a member of Mountaineering Ireland which provides us with insurance cover. If you have not walked with us before, you are allowed two guest walks before joining Mountaineering Ireland. You will need to sign a Guest Waiver Form. I will bring these on the walk.

(We will be setting up carpools to get to the trailhead. Due to a shortage of vehicles this week, this hike may be restricted to the first 8 registrants. If you can drive/accept passengers please let us know. Carpool riders will be asked to pay 10 euro to their driver to help defray the cost of petrol).
