AWCD Hike for 5 May 2022 – Howth Head and the Bog of Frogs
Hello hikers!
Please join AWCD as we return to Howth Head. We will be walking the Headland and the Bog of Frogs Loop in a clockwise direction.
Date: Thursday, 5 May 2022
Hike: The first part of our walk takes us from Howth DART station, through Howth, and around the lovely cliff path, then back to the Howth DART station via the Bog of Frogs (how could you not want to walk through a Bog of Frogs?). The views are stunning, and it’s not uncommon to see seals in the water from the path.
Those that would like to can join us in town for lunch after the walk, at your own expense.
Meeting place: Howth DART station
Meeting time: 9:50 for a 10:00 start
Hike time: 3 hours
Please bring: 1 liter water, snack, rain gear, hat and gloves (just I case). Please wear synthetic (not cotton) clothing and shoes or boots with good tread.
I have been asked by the AWCD to point out that walkers should be aware that they are responsible for their own safety and that they are NOT covered by the AWCD for Personal Accident Insurance. To hike with the Hillwalking group you must be a member of Mountaineering Ireland which provides us with insurance cover. If you have not walked with us before, you are allowed two guest walks before joining Mountaineering Ireland. You will need to sign a Guest Waiver Form. I will bring these on the walk.
Please sign up through Wild Apricot by the end of Wednesday (4 May) if you plan to join us on the hike. This hike will begin at the DART station, so we will not be arranging carpools.
