FAWCO VIRTUAL EVENT:  Global Issues Book Discussion — That Librarian

The FAWCO Education Team has selected That Librarian: The Fight Against Book Banning in America by Amanda Jones as our next Global Issues read. This is a book we believe will spark meaningful conversation across our FAWCO community. Amanda Jones, a small-town librarian in Louisiana, attended a library board meeting to advocate for diverse books and found her life turned upside down. She was harassed, threatened and publicly attacked. Rather than back down, she chose to stand up, even taking legal action against her harassers. What makes this book especially compelling is how it moves between the deeply personal and the broader global context. Jones connects local book challenges to larger, organized efforts, offering an eye-opening look at what is at stake when access to diverse stories is restricted.
